The AIC, Annual Inspection certification, City of Chicago program requires that building owners examine and document their existing elevator equipment by a QEI, Qualified Elevator Inspector. The City of Chicago requires that all inspectors are licensed QEI to complete the AIC. The annual AIC are required to be done in the calendar year. For example, the 2015 AIC are to be completed in 2015. The AIC program was started to help the City of Chicago to ensure that all buildings are staying in compliance with the city of Chicago building code. All inspections are found in ASME 17.1. There is also required checklist that the city of Chicago provides.
